The highly anticipated Derby City Omnium is back, bigger and better than ever! This year's event promises exciting changes that both participants and spectators will love. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist, an avid runner, or just looking for a fun weekend activity, the Derby City Omnium has something for everyone. Here's everything you need to know about this year's event.

What’s New in 2025?

This year, the Derby City Omnium is unveiling some fantastic updates to its schedule and venue lineup:

1. A New Course at Shawnee Park

For the first time, the Omnium will feature a race at Shawnee Park, one of Louisville’s historic and scenic metro parks. On Saturday, racers will tackle the Shawnee Park Circuit, a brand-new course that highlights the park's natural beauty and urban charm. It’s an exciting addition that brings fresh challenges as its flat elevation profile and wide turns lend it to being an incredibly quick day on the tarmac.

2. Updated Schedule

The traditional Long Run Park Circuit, a fan favorite, has been moved to Sunday, giving participants a new flow to the weekend’s events. This shift not only refreshes the competition schedule but also makes Saturday at Shawnee Park a must-attend kickoff day filled with energy and new experiences.

3. Introducing the Olmsted 5K

In addition to the cycling races, the Derby City Omnium is thrilled to announce the launch of the Olmsted 5K, a community-focused running event. Named in honor of Frederick Law Olmsted, the visionary behind Louisville's park system, this 5K invites runners and walkers to explore the beauty of Shawnee Park while enjoying a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere.

This event is perfect for families, running clubs, and anyone looking to participate in a fun and active way. Plus, after the 5K, participants can stay to watch the adrenaline-pumping bike races for a full day of excitement.

The Derby City Omnium is more than just a race series—it’s a celebration of Louisville Metro Parks and the vibrant community that supports them. By expanding into Shawnee Park and introducing the Olmsted 5K, the event furthers its mission of sharing the beauty and joy of Louisville’s green spaces with as many people as possible. Whether you're a local or visiting from out of town, this year’s event is a perfect way to experience everything the parks have to offer.
